Taiwan Alien : Policeman Photographed Transparent Creature Near Jiaming Lake In Taiwan ufo-blogger
Taiwan UFOlogy Society (TUFOS) on Saturday announced a transparent alien creature was photographed by a police officer near Jiaming Lake, located at an altitude of 3310 meters, in the southern part of the Central Highlands in Taitung.
Above photograph shows large alien creatures with transparent body, webbed hands, seen from a distance. Due to its odd shape, TUFOS certain, it's not human, but a creature from outer space.
Chairman TUFOS, Huang Chao-ming revealed, the photo was taken by a police officer with his iPhone 4.
Jiaming Lake
Jiaming Lake is located in Haiduan Township, Taitung County. It is situated on the east side of Mt. Sancha, and is 7 kilometers from Mt. Xiangyang as the crow flies.
The water reaches a depth of 6 meters, and no streams enter or leave the lake. The lake nevertheless remains full of water at all times of the year. The water in the lake is a deep sapphire blue, and has been described as "angels' tears.
Geologists have determined that the glass found at this lake shows signs of extreme internal stress. Since there are no nearby volcanoes, nor have there been glaciers or signs of erosion by ice or snow, it is therefore thought that Jiaming Lake was indeed probably formed by meteorite impact.
Q:
What do you think of this reported news that policeman photographed transparent alien creature at Taitung?
Do you believe aliens exist?
Do you curious the outer space?
What should you do if you meet an alien?
In your opinion, what will aliens really look like?

The world’s first supermarket selling only expired food has opened in Denmark qz.com
Walk into WeFood, a new supermarket in Copenhagen, and you’ll find prices up to 50% lower than any other grocery store in the city. The only catch? The food is past its official expiry date or has damaged packaging that would’ve caused it to be thrown away at a regular store.
WeFood, which threw open its doors on Feb. 22, is Denmark’s first-ever surplus food supermarket, aiming to cut down on the massive amounts of food wasted every year—700,000 metric tons in Denmark, and 1.3 billion metric tons around the world.
The supermarket hopes to draw both environmentally conscious shoppers and low-income individuals with limited budgets, according to Folkekirkens Nodhjaelp, the local non-profit that set up the project over the past year. Already praising the effort—which took a fair amount of legislative wrangling to set up—is Danish food minister Eva Kjer Hansen, who called the amount of food wasted each year “ridiculous.”
Denmark as a whole has been doing a good job of cleaning up its act. The country throws away 25% less food than it did five years ago and many of its supermarkets sell food that is near its expiration date at reduced prices. Elsewhere in Europe, France has banned supermarkets from throwing away unsold food and is asking restaurants to provide take-out containers.
None of this means the global fight to reduce food waste is anything close to over. In the US, people are tossing out 50% more food these days than they did in 1990, for instance. Looking to inspirational projects like WeFood might help other countries get their priorities in order.
Q:
What do you think that the supermarket selling only expired food has opened in Denmark?
Do food expiration dates really matter?
Do you think food waste issue serious in Taiwan?
What are the ways to stop food waste?
Your opinion about supermarkets?
What should be done to protect our food resources?

Harvard’s Most Popular Course: Tal Ben-Shahar On How to Be Happier by Marelisa
Harvard’s most popular course was a class on how to be happier.
Dr. Tal Ben-Shahar taught Harvard University’s most popular course (in the Spring of 2006): a course on Positive Psychology; that is, he taught his students how to be happy.
The course, called PSY 1504 – Positive Psychology, was described as follows:
“The course focuses on the psychological aspects of a fulfilling and flourishing life. Topics include happiness, self-esteem, empathy, friendship, love, achievement, creativity, music, spirituality, and humor.”
Here are eleven of Dr. Ben-Shahar’s happiness tips from his book “Happier”:
Happiness must combine both pleasure and meaning, providing both present and future gain. To further illustrate this point, Ben-Shahar uses a hamburger analogy. He explains how certain things, like an unhealthy but tasty hamburger, will bring immediate short-term pleasure but have the opposite effect on our long-term feelings.
Similarly, an unappealing but healthy veggie burger might bring us negative emotions while we’re eating it but bring us long-term benefits. Too often people bounce back and forth between these two without finding out what things in their lives can bring both immediate and long-term happiness; that is, a meal that is both tasty and healthy.
Imagine yourself as 110 years old. What advice would you give your younger self? This added perspective will allow you to recognize and eliminate the trivial and negative things from your life.
Allow yourself to feel the full range of emotions, including fear, sadness, or anxiety. Ben-Shahar advises that an expectation of constant happiness is unreasonable and sets us up for disappointment. A happy life will have the usual vicissitudes, and trying to avoid those, or hoping not to experience them, inevitably leads to unhappiness and frustration. A happy person has highs and lows, but their overall state of being is positive.
Remember the mind-body connection. Regular exercise, adequate sleep, and healthy eating habits lead to both physical and mental health.

Do Short Skirts Really Mean Better Times? By CATHERINE VALENTI
The old maxim was when women's hemlines rose, so did the economy.
So now that miniskirts are hot new items for spring, are the economy and stock market set to skyrocket as well?
Not likely, say experts.
"Fashion used to be much more of an indicator of economic trends," says Marshal Cohen, president of NPDFashionworld, a market research firm based in Port Washington, N.Y.
Cohen says over the past few years, the casual look that's become so popular in U.S. workplaces has diminished fashion's importance in indicating trends.
A Theory With Legs?
The so-called "hemline theory" is said to have gotten its start in the 1920s when Wharton School of Business economist George Taylor noticed in good economic times many women raised their skirts to show off their silk stockings. When times were bad, women lowered their skirts to hide that they weren't wearing any.
Supporting the premise was that the cost and availability of fabrics have historically affected the hemline of skirts, say economists. In boom times, when producers typically charge more for their yarn or textiles, designers would make skirts shorter to cut costs.
"Often designers felt that they could maybe save 20 percent of their material costs by creating new styles," says Edward B. Shils, the George W. Taylor Professor Emeritus of Entrepreneurial Management at the Wharton School.
But some fashion historians don't think the hemline-economy link ever held up that well.
"It's a kind of functionalist theory of fashion that doesn't work," says Valerie Steele, acting director and chief curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. "Hemlines were starting to come down in '27 and that was two years before the market crash."

Best Place to View Cherry Blossoms in Taiwan
In Taipei
You don’t even have to leave the city to experience the picturesque cherry trees in bloom. If you’re in Taipei, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is probably your best bet. If you’re willing to take a day trip outside the city proper, you’ll find brilliant displays in Wulai Hot Springs and Yangmingshan National Park.
Wulai’s cherry blossom viewing time is typically earlier than Taipei’s, sometimes a month or more. There are many different types of cherry blossom trees here, including Prunus x yedoensis, Prunus lannesiana, Wils, Prunus taiwaniana, Prunus incisa, and more.
Sun Moon Lake
Each year, Sun Moon Lake in central Taiwan hosts the Sun Moon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival, and thousands of visitors come to see the 2,000 trees in bloom. Take a ride on the Sun Moon Lake ropeway to see the colorful spectacle from above on Taiwan’s highest aerial gondola.
Sun Moon Lake’s blooms are typically peaking February through March. This area has the most cherry blossoms in central Taiwan. And, just after cherry blossom season ends here, you’ll find the lavender festival kicks off. More than 100,000 lavenders decorate the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village.
Alishan
By far Taiwan’s most popular place for cherry blossom viewing, Alishan hosts an annual Alishan Cherry Blossom Festival with more than 19,000 trees blooming during March and April. About 18,000 of the trees are Yoshino cherry trees, making Alishan the only area in Taiwan to see this variety. Aside from cherry blossom trees, look for azaleas, peonies, primrose jasmine, and Formosan one leaf orchid along the Alishan Highway (Provincial Highway No. 18). Expect large crowds in March and April at Alishan.

How to Know When It's Time to Quit Your Job Huffingtonpost
1. You aren't excited about the next step
If you can't think of ONE upper level employee who has a position within your company that you aspire to hold...then it's probably time to march out the back door. It's one thing if you're sick of being an entry level worker but have your eye on an exciting promotion. But if you already got the promotion -- or there's nothing to get promoted to -- there's really not much of a reason to grind day in and day out, is there?
Humans need to feel like we are going places. Forward movement is our calling. So if you don't feel like moving forward in the company because you aren't excited about what's at the end of the tunnel, get out and find a place that excites you.
2. Your job doesn't fit your personality.
It's rather important, especially for career and relationships. Your personality is a blueprint for the person you are -- and it can help you figure out if you are in a place that utilizes or wastes your talents.
3. It's all about the paycheck
Yes, it's good to have money. I won't argue that. But when your paycheck is becoming toxic to your health, we have a problem.
Point is, do not let money intimidate or imprison you. There is a lot of it out there, and there are plenty of ways to wrangle it in. So what if you need to bartend for a handful of months to get by while you figure out your next move? At least you will feel like you're actually heading somewhere exciting rather than withering away in a stale cubicle.
4. You continue to compare your career to your friends' careers
I find that most people who are truly happy with their careers aren't looking over their shoulders wondering what their peers are up to. It's just like owning a dog. When you truly love your dog (which most decent humans do), you don't compare your dog to somebody else's dog. You love your dog.
Q:
Are you happy with your current job?
How to know when it's time to quit your job?
How to find a working place that excites you?
How to find job fit your personality?
Is the paycheck important when looking for a job?
Do you compare your career to your friends' careers?

Palestinian Mufti: ‘A husband should beat his wife so long as it does not make her ugly’ themuslimissue
‘A husband should beat his wife so long as it does not make her ugly’: Palestinian leader gives horrific advice for dealing with a rocky marriage
A Palestinian leader has given tips for dealing with a rocky marriage – which includes a husband beating their wife ‘so long as it does not make them ugly’.
Hassan al-Laham, who holds the title of ‘mufti [legal expert] of Gaza’, was speaking on official Palestinian Authority TV.
He detailed what steps a husband ought to take to try and prevent a divorce, which included hitting their wife ‘jokingly’.
He said a husband should first give a warning to his wife while he demonstrates ‘good relations, dialogue, respect and humanity’.
He then offers the gentle reminder that ‘you did not buy her her as a slave…nor did you buy her in the market.’
Following that, he said the warning should be made with a ‘good word, good treatment and a positive look’.
He added how this ought to be done ‘inside the home’ and they must show no problems in their marriage to the outside world.
As well as this, the marital couple will also sleep in separate beds.

Publishing soil liquefaction zones
Now we are asking the central government to relax disaster prevention regulations as soon as possible. If this is possible then there will be more coordination with public policy and we will be able to allow citizens to rebuild dangerous residences into new units that are safer.
Chu is hoping that offering a checkup for old buildings as well as publishing soil liquefaction zones will allow the public to feel more secure about their own dwellings.
Taiwan earthquake triggers soil liquefaction nhk.or.jp
Authorities in Taiwan are dealing with problems related to ground liquefaction in the southern city of Tainan. The phenomenon was caused by a strong earthquake earlier this month.
What is soil liquefaction? washington.edu
Liquefaction is a phenomenon in which the strength and stiffness of a soil is reduced by earthquake shaking or other rapid loading. Liquefaction and related phenomena have been responsible for tremendous amounts of damage in historical earthquakes around the world.
Liquefaction occurs in saturated soils, that is, soils in which the space between individual particles is completely filled with water. This water exerts a pressure on the soil particles that influences how tightly the particles themselves are pressed together. Prior to an earthquake, the water pressure is relatively low. However, earthquake shaking can cause the water pressure to increase to the point where the soil particles can readily move with respect to each other.
Q:
How to protect yourself from natural disasters?
How to make the public to feel more secure about their own dwellings?
Do you know what soil liquefaction is?
Are you fear that the earthquake triggers soil liquefaction?

Why are Superhero Movies so Popular? wisegeek
Superman Returns, X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Iron Man; it seems the list of superhero movies since the dawn of the 21st century goes on and on. The revival of the genre has surpassed all expectations, with six of the top 12 highest opening-weekend box office grosses being held by superhero movies. There are many theories as to why these films have become and remained so popular over the last decade, from desperate attempts to escape to an honest yearning for real-life heroes.
Some experts consider most movies to be forms of escapism. They are traditionally meant to be a blend of education and entertainment, and superhero films tend heavily toward the latter element. These movies tend to be powerhouses of action, stunts and excitement, immersing the audience in a colorful and fully-realized world. Watching a superhero movie is a great chance to relax and not think about stress or difficult things in your life.
Historically, during times of war, films have become a hotbed of patriotism and heroic films. Since the 2002 beginning of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, America and much of the world have been enmeshed in the local and global repercussions of armed conflict. Superheroes are quite similar to military personnel in some ways; they are charged with bringing peace, fighting violently if necessary, and trying to maintain a normal life. Some audience members may relate to that concept, either on a personal level or in relation to their ideas about war and any current world situations.
Moreover, most superheroes serve as a hope-inspiring figure, an image of someone who can save us all from dark and difficult times. Superhero movies promote the ideas of peace, safety and freedom. Some experts consider this message a necessary reassurance in difficult times. Unlike during earlier wars, the message in the movies isn’t about the country succeeding, but recognition that there are others with similar hope for a peaceful future.
Superhero movies are many things to many people. To comic book lovers, they are the realization of their favorite worlds. To those feeling the strain of economic, personal, or national problems, they are a welcome escape for a few hours.
Q:
Are you a comic book lover? Do you like superhero movies?

Building check, urban renewal to be new government's priority
Taipei, Feb. 8 (CNA) President-elect Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) said during a visit to earthquake-struck Tainan on Monday that her administration will make safety checks of old buildings and urban renewal a top priority.
Her team has realized it has come time to examine old buildings erected during Taiwan's period of industrialization that may need to be reinforced against earthquakes and other potential disasters, Tsai said while visiting quake victims at Tainan's Chi Mei Hospital
Why We Feel Insecure? Susan Krauss
Everyone feels insecure from time to time, perhaps particularly in certain situations. You may feel that you’re not as attractive, intelligent, or well-situated in life as you could be. Comparing yourself to the people around you can make you feel even worse.
Some people compensate for insecurities by trying to show that they’re better than others. They may constantly brag about their achievements, remind others about their successes (even if others are well aware of these), or belittle their friends and family members.
The psychologist Alfred Adler, who coined the term “inferiority complex,” referred to this tendency as “striving for superiority.” In the worst case scenario, striving for superiority means that you’re stepping on the feelings of those around you. The only way you can make yourself feel bigger is by making them feel smaller.
There are times when insecurities are well-justified, however, and admitting those feelings is psychologically healthy. If you’ve been confronted by a striving-for-superiority co-worker, boss, or friend, it’s normal to feel like questioning your self-worth. However, recognizing that you’ve been manipulated into feeling this way can help you shake aside that negative self-assessment.
You can also be made to feel insecure by actual events in your life: Your romantic partner threatens to leave you or expresses concern about the future of your relationship. Your teenaged daughter shouts in your face that you’re a terrible parent. Or, your parents can make you feel inadequate by pointing out all your failings and missed opportunities. In all of these cases, you wonder what you’ve done wrong. Feeling better in those situations involves separating your contribution to the problem from the other person’s.

What do you think the policy of building check, urban renewal?

孤島求生
Japanese student spends 19 days on remote island with NO survival training iyuba.com
Despite having no previous Robinson Crusoe experience, one student decided to maroon herself on a remote island for 19 days.
Reikko Hori, a 22-year-old from Japan, was dropped off on the Indonesian island of Amparo, 4,200 miles northwest of Australia with a magnifying glass for starting fires and a spear gun for killing her dinner.
What’s more, this was a holiday that she’d paid for.
Speaking to MailOnline Travel, Alvaro Cerezo of Docastaway, who organised the project, said: ’When she arrived at the airport on the first day I saw that she hadn’t prepared proper luggage and didn’t bring adequate clothing, only jeans. We needed to go to a local shop and buy trousers for her.
Then when I found out that her knowledge of survival was non-existent, I got more worried. But what was distressing for me was the fact that Reikko had serious difficulties in detecting danger and in feeling pain. She walked barefoot on the sharp coral, just is if she was walking barefoot at home. She slept on the floor in the jungle without it even crossing her mind that an animal could walk over her in the middle of the night.’
Despite the harsh introduction to living in the wild, Reikko soon got to grips with the challenge ahead of her. Using a spear to catch fish, a rock to break open coconuts and a magnifying glass to make fire..
Speaking to MailOnline Travel, she said: ’I thought the island was smaller than I previously imagined but I was scared to see I had to be 18 more days without being able to escape.
There was a big lonely feeling, like being the only person in the sea, but at the same time it was really exciting. When the Docastaway team left, I was happy to be alone at last but this feeling was just momentary. It was full of painful loneliness and helplessness after the second day.’
The student admitted she was ’not good with human relationships’, but says her experience has made her appreciate the feeling of being in a community.
Q:
Can you survive on remote island with NO survival training?
Are you willing to pay holidays that stay on a remote island?
How to develop survival skills?
Where are the good places to escape from your stress?

Dealing With Sudden Windfalls
(by Miriam Caldwell)
When you receive a sudden windfall of money, it is important to use this money wisely. Well, it is important to plan on how to use this money. Often people will receive a large sum of money from bonuses, tax refunds, inheritances or settlements and the money will seem to magically disappear. Often people will spend more than they received and end up worse off than they were before. Here are five tips on how to handle a sudden windfall.
1) Before you do anything with the money you should sit down and plan what you want to do with it. You can take this time to dream of all the things that you want to do with the money. You can list anything that you might possibly want to do with the money. Then sit back and decide which things are most important to you.
2) You should briefly take a look at what your financial priorities are. Then look at where you are in achieving them. If you are debt free and have a good amount in savings, you may decide that you can simply spend all of the money. Otherwise you should put at least half towards your financial priorities.
3) You have been given the gift of money. It is nice to donate some of this to your church or favorite charity. Taking time to help others is always nice. It is easy to pass on a portion of your windfall to bless others.
4) Decide what your splurges will be and then set budget limits for each of those splurges. Then make sure that you stick to your budget. You can get more for your money by taking the time to shop around and make sure that you are getting the highest quality for the lowest price.
5) Once you have spent the money on the things you chose, stop spending. This way your blessing will always be a blessing. You will not have negative feelings towards it, because you handled it responsibly.
Question:
1. How to handle a windfall?
2. How to deal with large sum of money?
3. How did you handle the financial strain?
4. What to do if you win the lottery (or a big windfall)?
5. Would you lie to your partner about money?
