睡左側 較快樂?
Sleeping on left side of the bed 'makes you more cheerful and positive'
By Lauren Paxman dailymail.co.uk
Next time someone asks you if you got out of bed of the wrong side, you'll be able to give them an accurate answer.
Research released today has shown that there is such thing as a right and wrong side.
Those who have a tendency to migrate to the left of a double bed are apparently happier than their ‘right’ counterparts.
Start on the right foot: Always wake up in a good mood... by sleeping on the left side of your bed
The study of 3,000 adults found that that those who sleep on the left are generally more cheerful, but they are also more positive and capable of tackling heavy workloads and a stressful day ahead.
More than a quarter of people who snooze on the left side of the bed feel they have a really positive outlook on life in general, compared to 18 per cent of right-side sleepers.
The upbeat morning mood of ‘lefties’ may also go as far to explain why more than half of them refuse to swap sides with their other half.
Almost a quarter of the nation is convinced there is a wrong side of the bed and more than 75 per cent of Brits are so stuck in their sleeping routine that they would find it strange to sleep on the other side of the bed.
Two-thirds of those who doze on the left reckon they are calmer than their partner in a crisis. They also tend to have more confidence and for this reason are more likely to be in permanent employment.
Not budging: The upbeat morning mood of 'lefties' may also go as far to explain why more than half of them refuse to swap sides with their other half
In addition, 31 per cent of ‘lefties’ love their job compared with just 18 per cent of ‘righties.'
However it is not all bad. Those who sleep on the right side of the bed tend to earn more than their left equivalents.
Claire Haigh spokeswoman for Premier Inn, who commissioned the research, said: 'The research clearly indicates a pattern between which side of the bed you sleep on and the mood you wake up in.
'Left sleepers are more cheerful, appear to enjoy life slightly more and have a more positive attitude to the day ahead than right sleepers.
Q:
Do you believe the concept that sleeping on left side of the bed makes you more cheerful and positive'?
Could sleeping patterns link to happiness?
Deep sleep: how much do you need?
How can get a good night sleeping?
How to become more cheerful?
What do you think the idea that people who sleep on the right side of the bed tend to earn more than their left equivalents?

Taiwan sports commentator dies in Switzerland by accompanied suicide
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Retired sports news anchor Frank Fu (傅達仁) passed away at the age of 85 in Switzerland Thursday through accompanied suicide.
After being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer last year, he joined the Swiss organization “Dignitas” and planned his euthanasia for months. After a first visit to the group last November, he postponed a decision to spend more time with his son, and later waited until after the young man’s wedding.
Fu returned to Switzerland on May 30 and arrived at the Dignitas site in Zurich accompanied by five relatives and friends Thursday morning local time, the Apple Daily reported.
Later, his wife emerged to tell reporters that at 6:58 p.m. Taiwan time, “Frank Fu no longer breathed and his heart no longer beat, he has left this world,” the newspaper quoted her.

What is a mercy killing?
Question: "What is a mercy killing?"
Answer: “Mercy killing” is “the act of putting a person or animal to death painlessly or allowing them to die by withholding medical services, usually because of a painful and incurable disease.” Mercy killing is also referred to as "euthanasia."
The Greek word euthanasia translates to “good death,” making it and mercy killing terms that can be comforting in the face of difficult medical situations. When any person, especially a family member or close friend, is experiencing pain, mental degeneration, or other adverse condition, our instinct is to relieve the person in any way possible. Sometimes, this desire to alleviate pain can become so strong in the caregiver or patient that it overrides our deeper impulse to preserve life and survive.
This struggle between the desire to end suffering and the desire to survive is not new to humanity. In fact, one of the oldest stories in the Bible tells of Job’s longing for death in the midst of his suffering. Job laments his life, even requesting God to kill him rather than allow his pain—emotional, physical, and spiritual—to continue (Job 6:8-11). Most pertinently, Job declares, “I prefer strangling and death, rather than this body of mine. I despise my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone; my days have no meaning”

How to Deal With People Talking About You Behind Your Back wikihow
It feels pretty awful to have people talk about you behind your back. Since this kind of gossip may be subtle, it’s often hard to pinpoint the source. For this reason, you’ll probably make matters worse by trying to confront the people gossiping. The best course of action is to ignore them. You might also engage in positive activities to cope and try to change your perspective on gossiping.
Do nothing. Though you may be tempted to act out or confront the person, sometimes the best response is to ignore gossip. Just think: the person didn’t give you the consideration of saying what they said to your face. So, you shouldn’t give them the consideration of taking it any further. Stop the negativity train by completely ignoring it.
Treat them with kindness. Another great response to gossipers is a pleasant attitude. They will be bewildered as to how you could treat them so kindly when they have spoken negatively about you. Plus, if you reinforce your upbeat attitude, you may make the person feel guilty for talking about you in the first place.
Verify the motives of the messenger. If a dear friend or acquaintance was the one who told you about the gossip, you may want to make sure this person has your best interests in mind. Most good friends would rather not spread any negative information about you that may hurt your feelings. If this person is involved in the rumors, try to find out why they felt the need to come and tell you, and how they reacted to the rumors.
You might ask questions like, "How did you know this was going around?" or "What did you say when they were spreading that rumor?" You may even simply ask, "Why are you telling me this?" to better understand their motives.
You don’t necessarily have to end your relationship with the messenger. But, it may be wise to watch this person more closely. They may not be as innocent as they try to appear to be. They could be fueling the gossip rather than trying to stop it.
Don’t take it personally. You can deal with people talking about you behind your back by remembering that their words are a reflection of them, not you. You can’t choose what others say about you, but you can choose how you react to it. Write off gossiping as something the other person needed to do for them. Refuse to be a
Realize they may be jealous. It may not feel like it when people are talking negatively about you, but this often happens because there’s something about you that intimidates them. The person may be envious of your looks, abilities, or popularity. Their nasty words may simply be a way to hurt you.

How to Mend a Broken Relationship
Hurt is inevitable in significant relationships. Yet pain and strife does not have to mean a relationship is going to end. Many couples find that working though trouble actually makes their relationship even stronger. What they realize is that all relationship require work, love, and patience to succeed, and this is especially true when trying to mend a broken relationship
Determine why the relationship is in trouble. All relationships go through rough patches at one point or another. As the novelty of your first few months together wears off, problems and stress start to pile up and things you once found cute begin to annoy you to no end. While there are always small issues in a relationship, some issues can cause problems when they linger under the surface for too long:
You don’t believe you opinion is respected.
You feel like your partner doesn’t care about your needs.
You feel your partner is not helping with chores, bills, kids, etc.
You don't communicate well and/or argue frequently.
Talk with your partner about what is bothering you. Many times, relationships end or hit rough spots when there is not adequate communication going on between the two parties. While difficult, you have to be willing to share your problems and issues with your partner to have any hope of fixing them.
Make time to be honest with your partner. Your concerns have to come out in the open or they will never be fixed.
It can help to write down your problems ahead of time, or discuss them with a close friend so you feel comfortable expressing yourself with your partner later.
Forgive each other. This can be the hardest part of mending a relationship, but also the most crucial. Forgiveness releases pent up anger, pain, and emotions so that they don’t come back later in life, sabotaging all the progress you’ve made. Remember that no one is perfect, and without forgiveness there wouldn't be a single working relationship on the planet.
Forgiveness takes time, so don’t be afraid if you are still angry 1-2 days after an argument. Keep working on forgiving your partner and you’ll be surprised how quickly you let go of negative emotions.
Talking to your partner and seeing their mistake through their eyes can help you understand the issue and offer forgiveness more readily.

Watching Sad Movies Actually Makes You Happier
Jamie Condliffe gizmodo
From bawling your eyes out over Bambi as a kid, to the slow, painful tug of the heart strings that was Beginners, most of us are suckers for a sad film. But a new study suggests that the reason for that might be incredibly simple: It turns out that sad films make us happy.
The research, carried out at The Ohio State University, tried to get to the bottom of our emotional reactions to sad cinema. To do that, researchers sat down 361 college students and made them watch the 2007 movie Atonement. That flick, in case you missed it, features two separated lovers who die as war casualties. That counts as sad.
Before and after the viewing, the participants were asked how happy they were with their life, and during the film they were also asked to rate their current emotional state.
The result? People who experienced the greatest increase in sadness during the movie reported increased life happiness after viewing it. They also rated the film as being better. The results appear in Communication Research. Silvia Knobloch-Westerwick, one of the researchers, explains to Science Daily:
"People seem to use tragedies as a way to reflect on the important relationships in their own life, to count their blessings. That can help explain why tragedies are so popular with audiences, despite the sadness they induce."
Previous psychological research has linked sadness with increased thoughtfulness. What's happening with sad movies, say the researchers, is that when they trigger a big enough emotional response, viewers begin to analyze their personal lives and appreciate them more. That makes them happier.
Of course, if your personal life is in complete tatters, you might not achieve quite these results. You should probably watch the Muppets instead.
Taiwan 7-Eleven launches fitness gym at Taipei store
Taiwan News
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Taiwan's 7-Eleven announced it will launch a gym at one of its convenience stores in Taipei, following its endeavor to diversify services at different locations, which have included a beauty service "K.Seren" in Banqiao of New Taipei last month, and a completely automated "X-Store" in Taipei City early this year.
Running from 6 a.m. in the morning to midnight seven days a week, the gym is the first of its kind in the country, and is located on the second floor of a 7-Eleven store near MRT Xingtian Temple Station, although is not pioneering the concept. Japan's FamilyMart started a 24-hour fitness gym last December, and aims to open 300 gyms on the second floors of FamilyMart stores throughout the country within five years.
The gym, 55 pings, has shower and changing rooms, and a total of 40 different types of workout equipment including: treadmills, smith cage, adjustable bench, kettlebells and dumbbells. Shampoo, lotion, and hair dryers are provided in the shower rooms. The gym will charge each guest NT$100 (US$3.36) for the first hour and NT$40 (US$1.34) for each subsequent 30 minute period.
Paid personal trainers for boxing, TRX suspension, kettlebell, weight trainings, and group courses for TRX, Pilates, Barre, and different types of Yoga will also be made available upon request.
The gym is run under the brand name BEING Fit, a subsidiary of the Uni-president Group (統一集團). The group operates all the 7-Eleven convenience store chains in Taiwan.
Beingspa General Manager Chen Pei-rong (陳佩蓉) told media on Monday that the country's second 7-Eleven gym is on the way, and that more gyms are being planned for the central and southern regions of the country.
The 7-Eleven store with a gym will be selling sportswear, underwear, protein bars, post-workout beverages and related products for gym goers.

Pitchpersons wanted: promote 10 of Taiwan's islands and earn NT$35,000!
Taiwan News
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – As part of the “Year of Bay Tourism” initiative, the Tourism Bureau is offering a much-coveted job – promoting ten selected islands of Taiwan and getting paid NT$5,000 (US$167) a day for a week!
The campaign, titled “Show your island,” seeks to introduce the characteristics of Taiwan’s marine culture to the world through blogs or vlogs by individuals who can discover the unknown beauty and specialties of Taiwan’s outlying islands, according to the Tourism Bureau.
The ten islands in the spotlight are Guishan Island (龜山島), Green Island (綠島), Orchid Island (蘭嶼), Xiaoliuqiu (小琉球), Qimei (七美), Xiyu (漁翁島or西嶼), Jibei Island (吉貝), Lieyu (烈嶼or小金門), Dongju (東莒島), and Beigan (北竿).
Individuals interested in becoming one of the ten pitchpersons for the islands must meet the following criteria: Taiwanese aged 20 or older, or foreign visitors currently staying in Taiwan with a valid visa.
To win the title, they must submit a 60-second long video featuring a self-introduction, as well as their motivation and methods to promote the islands – with a dose of creativity. Submissions are accepted between 10 a.m. June 1 and noon June 24. Winners will be determined through a two-phase selection, including an online vote and evaluation by a panel of judges, and announced on July 17 on the event website.
Those emerging as winners will be designated with a specific island for which they will have to provide a blog (containing 20 photos) and a video clip with 30 seconds in length everyday for a week in promotional efforts.
What is a good job?
And I believed them. Instead of paying attention to my natural interests, I started focusing instead on which majors offered high paying jobs and, from there, I picked a major in the hard sciences that seemed to interest me the most. It was a compromise.
Flash forward to thirteen years later and what do you have? I’m not using that degree in the hard sciences. Instead, I took a pay cut to become a writer – the job I wanted to have from the start.
Too many people focus on salary as the sole definition of a good job. I’ll be the last to argue that it’s not good to have a healthy income. A great income opens many doors if used properly – savings for the future, a higher standard of living, and so on.
But what good is that higher standard of living and savings for the future if you’re living a significant chunk of your adult life in a state of unhappiness.
想成功? 多睡點!
The secret to success is sleep.
ahbeard.com.au
Our resident sleep expert Dr. Carmel Harrington sat down to discuss what effects sleep deprivation has on our productivity.
How often do you stay up late, thinking you will achieve more with your time? Increasing demands, the internet and social media are increasing social factors that have seen our average sleep time decrease from 8.5 hours to 6.5 hours a night. These lost hours of sleep are a major productivity killer and the cost is more than many realise!
The perceived productivity thought to be gained by being awake longer, is most likely going to be undone by the fact that your high-level brain function is reduced when sleep is swapped for wakefulness. Tasks will be executed more slowly, and with a higher error rate.
Sleep is an important function for the brain, as it helps the brain to reset. Daily brain activity results in the accumulation of toxins which can only be removed by sleeping…and sleeping well. Without quality sleep, our brain will store these toxins – resulting in a reduction in our ability to think clearly, creatively, and slows down your ability to process information and problem solve. Studies have shown a dramatic difference in the brain function of people who sleep 6-hours who under-perform when compared to those who have had 7-hours or more.
Not only do we need good sleep to achieve peak performance we also require it for good mental health. Not surprisingly, a lack of sleep is also linked to a lack of motivation and a generalised negative mood state. Depression is the most common psychological disorder in the western world, and it’s growing in all ages groups. Depression can cause poor sleep, however it is important to be aware that consistent lack of sleep can also be a contributing factor for depression.
The research is clear.
Good sleep is fundamental to peak mental and physical performance.
Focus on your sleep, and reap the rewards.

Ways To Read Someone’s Mind Easily By Jesse Herman spiritscienceandmetaphysics.com
Many of us think of reading somebody else’s mind as a sort of control mechanism. If you can figure out their next move, you can manipulate them or anticipate their future actions. In reality, it can be far more practical and personal.
1) Body Language
Body language is another clear indication as to what somebody is thinking. If their forehead is creased they are stressed. How are they sitting or standing; what is their posture?
You can learn a lot about a person’s mental state from their body language, posture, and energy levels.
2) Watch their breath
How are they breathing? If somebody breathes through the base of their spine it means they are relaxed. If ones breathe is shallow, they are tense. If you want to know someone’s mental state, observe their breath.
If their breathing is choppy, they are most likely nervous which means they don’t want you to know something. They may be shy, anxious, or hiding something from you. If someone has a relaxed breath, you know that their mental state is calm which typically means they are being truthful.
3) Read their eyes
The eyes can also be revealing. The pupil is said to be a portal to the mind. Some studies have shown that when one thinks hard, pupils dilate. Interestingly, when the brain is overloaded the pupils will constrict.
Also with pupils, when you first meet someone they widen. If they widen but then constrict, it means they are not really interested in you. If the remain dilated, it means they are excited to be with you.
4) Listen to their tone of voice. Not the words, their tone.
The tone of voice can also tell everything. The speed of somebodies voice. Slow is calm, fast in nervous. The words are not as important as the energy behind them. This does not even need to be explained because you know what a certain tone means. But sometimes we must really tune in and listen to get answers.
Q:
What are the ways to read someone’s mind?
Do you want to read someone's mind?
Is good or bad if you could read someone’s mind?
What are the ways to read body language?
How to tell if someone is being honest?
How to deal with dishonest people?
交談中的錯誤
The Most Common Mistakes in a Conversation
Lianne Martha Maiquez Laroya
Do you ask too many questions?
The conversation sounds like a police interrogation with you asking too many questions and your partner scrambles to answer all of them. As a result, connection is made and no relationship is built.
Solution: Follow this structure:
a. Ask a general question.
b. Consider his answer.
c. Give feedback about his answer and then answer the question you’ve asked.
d. Wait for him to respond. If he replies with a question, good. If he replies with a statement, repeat what he said and wait for him to elaborate.
Do you hog the spotlight?
You walk way too much: about yourself, your job, your dreams and frustrations. Pretty soon, the person you’re talking too feels like he just attended a whole-day seminar about you.
Solution: Ask for your partner’s opinion.
– “My favorite topic is about personal finance. How about you?”
Do you have to be right all the time?
Every conversation seems like a battlefield to you. You have to make everyone agree with what you have to say, so you never back down. You’re always right, right?
Solution: Accept the fact that everyone is entitled to his own opinions. You don’t need to force them into agreeing with you—they’ll just choose to walk away from you instead. Arrogance causes some of these common mistakes in a conversation to happen. Stay humble.
Do you talk about awkward topics with a person you barely know?
“Hey, I just met you, but listen to me talk about my past relationships, my nagging digestive problems and my balding hair.”
Solution: Stay away from topics involving religion, sex, politics and negativity, especially when you’ve just become acquainted with someone. Focus on safe topics such as hobbies, common interests and the topic of the conference you’re in
Are you rude to the person you’re talking to?
You think you’re better than your talking partner so you don’t think about respecting their opinions. Sure, you use polite language and you mind your manners, but your words offend and your attitude challenges them.
Solution: How you communicate is better than what you communicate. Before you aim to communicate, aim to respect first.
