富二代與黑幫
Fuerdai
(Wikipedia)
Fuerdai (富二代) is a
Chinese term that means "the second generation of the rich". This
term is currently often expressed in the Chinese media and everyday discussions
in mainland China, as it incorporates some of the social and moral problems
that are associated with modern Chinese society.
Fuerdai are sons and daughters of the
Chinese nouveau riche of the early years of China's reform era (from the late
1970s onward). During the new era, in which private initiative could be rewarded
by wealth, many new rich Chinese emerged in the former-socialist Chinese
society. While such wealthy individuals reached their new socioeconomic
position through their own initiative and efforts, their children often enjoy a
comfortable lifestyle and have a much easier and obstacle-free life path.
Cop
beaten to death outside Xinyi nightclub (China Post)
A police detective died early Sunday
morning after he was assaulted by a violent mob in Xinyi District.
Reports indicate that 38-year-old police
detective Hsueh Chen-kuo (薛貞國) had suffered
multiple injuries from blunt force trauma after he was violently assaulted by a
mob comprising 40 to 50 individuals.
The
Bamboo Union (Taipeitimes)
The Bamboo Union is the country's biggest
organized crime group, with 68 branches and 1,171 known members -- or more than
one out of five of the nation's known gangsters -- according to recently
compiled police statistics.
After the Bamboo Union, the Four Seas Gang
is the next-largest, with 46 local branches and 726 members. The Tiendaomeng is
the third-largest, with 36 branches and 632 members.
The police explained that the numbers
represent only those known gang members who are listed as followed or monitored
by officers, so the numbers understate the real amount of gangsters in the
country.

求婚計畫者
Marriage Proposal Planner
(Wikipedia)
Marriage Proposal
Planner is a professional event coordinator who specializes in planning
marriage proposals. A Marriage Proposal Planner is a relatively new profession
in the Engagement Industry. Marriage Proposal Planners suggest marriage
proposal ideas, scout proposal locations, negotiate rates with vendors, draw up
contracts, hire photographers, create romantic setups, acquire permits, and
help clients choose engagement rings. Marriage Proposal Planners interview the
proposer and ask questions about the couple. They then use those answers to
create the marriage proposal idea.
Would you hire a wedding proposal planner?
The wedding industry
is teeming with businesses that offer to plan the Big Day, the honeymoon and
even the hen and stag parties, but would-be spouses have always organised their
own proposal.
Until now, that is.
New British firm The Proposers is offering to jazz up offers of marriage for a
fee of £100 and upwards.
Since it was launched
in May by Londoners Daisy Amodio and Tiffany Wright, the firm has seen its
customer base surge and is even in talks for its own TV show. Triumphs include
organising more than 25 proposals; including setting the the scene in an English
castle, with the groom-to-be as a knight in shining armour, and arranging a
luxury picnic on a secluded Swiss mountainside for a ski-lover to get down on
one knee in the snow.
One of the firm's
more extravagant proposals involved hiring an art gallery for a man who wanted
to fill it with peronalised canvasses of photos and drawings that meant
something to his artist girlfriend, with a final piece of artwork asking
"Will you marry me?"
The boyfriend above
got a yes to his artistic "Will you marry me?"
The firm says
brides-to-be who discover their involvement in their partners' proposals are
grateful for their help - but when such a personal moment is at stake, some
people are naturally skeptical about the service. Are men not romantic enough
to plan their own proposal without help?
