How to Live a Good Life wiki
Make a list of what people or things matter to you.
When looking for a life plan, it makes sense to prioritize some areas of your life. List all the things that you value in your life. You might list your family, friends, a certain hobby, nature, or career. Take the time to think deeply about the things without which you could not imagine living.
For example, while you might like playing basketball, is this one of the most important things in your life? Perhaps it is. If not, it is likely a hobby.
Find your calling.
Every person has his or her own talents and strengths. Aim to live your life in reflection of your unique calling. Finding your calling does not mean following someone else’s path.
Instead, seek to define what you do well and how you can live a life that incorporates your strength and perhaps helps other people as well.
For example, you might be a talented teacher and musician. Perhaps your calling is to teach children piano lessons.
On the other hand, you might be a great listener and care about helping others. You might be well-suited to be a psychologist.
If dinosaur bones excite you to no end, perhaps your calling is paleontology and spreading knowledge about dinosaurs and environmental change to a new generation.
Promote healthy communication.
Be direct when speaking to others. Listen carefully and attentively. If you have disagreements, try to fight effectively. That is, do not call each other names. Instead, discuss your problems calmly. Make sure you listen to the other person's point of view.
For example, it might be wise during arguments to repeat the other person's point of view. This shows you understand. You might say, "What I'm hearing you say is that you are annoyed by the fact that I am always home so late."
Ask rather than assume. If you feel a relationship is suffering in some way, talk to the other person openly and candidly.
Be a good neighbor. Part of living a good life comes from building a tight-knit local network. If you have neighbors, be helpful to them. Watch their cat when they go on vacation. Offer to shovel an elderly neighbor’s driveway. Practice neighborliness and you might find it is contagious.
Enjoying Life
Travel. See what there is to see in the world around you. Explore new areas in your neighborhood or town or if your budget allows, travel farther. There is no way we can visit every place in our lifetime. We can create awareness and develop empathy by traveling to other places, though.
Practice hobbies.
In addition to your calling and life purpose, you also need to have plain fun! Find hobbies that interest you and incorporate them into your routine. For example, you might join a knitting group or start rock climbing. By doing hobbies, you also will meet more people and have a more fulfilled life.

Buried Alive: Saving, Collecting and Hoarding
(Allan Schwartz, LCSW, Ph.D Dr. Schwartz's Weblog)
What is meant by hoarding? The clinical definition of a hoarder is someone who has collected so much stuff that they can’t properly use rooms in their home, such as cooking on their stoves in the kitchen or sleeping in their beds because of piles of junk that have been accumulated. The hoarder is someone who is unable to throw anything out and who must shop for more stuff. There are often health risks to the hoarder, his family and to neighbors. The clutter and garbage attracts such things as insects, rodents and diseases. There is also the danger of fire and even cave-ins caused by the weight of carelessly piled possessions.
There are two very interesting programs on television connected to the problem of hoarding. One of them is on TLC and is called "Hoarding: Buried Alive" and the other is on the History channel called "Pickers." What is so interesting is that, while "Hoarding" deals with people who fit the clinical definition described above, "Pickers" deals with people who collect old things as a hobby. In both case, the hoarders or collectors, there are people who are unable to part with their possessions even when offered lots of money. On Hoarders, collecting junk is maladaptive behavior that is a form of mental illness related to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). On Pickers similar people appear to be smart businessmen who enjoy buying and collecting old junk as a kind of hobby and as a way of earning money by selling what they accumulate. The fact is that in both cases people are hoarding.
Where do the "pickers" fit in? As depicted in the program, pickers are people who rummage through the junk collected by other people for the purpose of buying items that they can sell at a profit. On the program, the two pickers own a store where their purchased items are sold to people who are either decorating anything from their own businesses to their apartments, houses or condominiums. Even though the pickers make their purchases in order to sell at a profit, is it possible that they, too, are hoarders? After all, if you have seen the program you know that much of what they buy is filled with dust, rot and rust. Is this purely picking or is it possible that this is hoarding.
Added to the mystery is where to place those who collect things for investment? There are people who collect postage stamps, gold and silver coins, and original works of art, among other similar hobbies? Is it possible that they are hoarders?
The question posed here is similar to the puzzle of what types of behavior are normal or abnormal? Like so many things in life, hoarding exists on a continuum that ranges from normal to abnormal. Collecting postage stamps in an album filled with new or mint stamps from around tbe world is a normal or healthy kind of collecting. It's a financial investment that does not interfere with living on a daily basis. On the other hand, accumlating piles of junk in one's home so that there is no place to sleep, cook, eat and even go to the toiletter, does interfere with daily life. In the wors of cases this type of accumlation can and does become a fire and health hazard.
Questions:
1. Why is hoarding a problem?
2. Is hoarding a psychological problem?
3. Can hoarding be treated?
4. Do you have hoarding tendencies?
5. Would you marry a hoarder if you knew they were one?
6. How do you keep your room tidy?

Christmas in Japan -- Christmas Around the World whychristmas.com
Christmas has only been widely celebrated in Japan for the last few decades. It's still not seen as a religious holiday or celebration as there aren't many Christians in Japan. Now several customs that came to Japan from the USA such as sending and receiving Christmas Cards and Presents are popular.
In Japan, Christmas in known as more of a time to spread happiness rather than a religious celebration. Christmas Eve is often celebrated more than Christmas Day. Christmas Eve is thought of as a romantic day, in which couples spend together and exchange presents. In many ways it resembles Valentine's Day celebrations in the UK and the USA. Young couples like to go for walks to look at the Christmas lights and have a romantic meal in a restaurant - booking a table on Christmas Eve can be very difficult as it's so popular!
Fried chicken is often eaten on Christmas day. It is the busiest time of year for restaurants such as KFC and people can place orders at their local fast food restaurant in advance! There was an advertising campaign by KFC in the 1974 called 'Kentucky for Christmas!' (Kurisumasu ni wa kentakkii!) which was very successful and made KFC popular for Christmas!
The traditional Japanese Christmas food is Christmas cake, but it's not a rich fruit cake, but is usually a sponge cake decorated with strawberries and whipped cream. The 'shortcake' emoji [🍰] is Japanese Christmas cake!
Christmas is not a national holiday in Japan. However, often schools are closed on Christmas Day. The Emperor's birthday is a national holiday on the 23rd December and there's also a New Year school break. So the holiday break often starts around the 23rd. But most businesses will treat the 25th as a 'normal' working day.
In Japanese Happy/Merry Christmas is 'Meri Kurisumasu'. And it's written in the two Japanese scripts like this; Hiragana: めりーくりすます; Katakana: メリークリスマス. Happy/Merry Christmas in lots more languages.
Parties are often held for children, with games and dancing. Japanese Christmas Cake is a sponge cake decorated with trees, flowers and a figure of Santa Claus.
In Japan Santa is known as サンタさん、サンタクロース santa-san (Mr Santa). Another Japanese gift bringer is Hoteiosho, a Japanese god of good fortune from Buddhism and not really related to Christmas.
The Japanese New Year (called 'o shogatsu') is more like a traditional Western Christmas. New year is the period where families get together, have a special meal, pray and send greetings cards. New year is celebrated over five days from December 31st to January 4th and is a very busy time.
Q:
What do you think about Christmas?

A Pretend Friend Can Be a Foe, or Simply Someone You Know hubpages.com
Why Pretend?
There can be all kinds of different reasons why someone might “pretend” to be your friend. Sometimes, it is simply to take advantage of your strengths and talents. For example, if you are someone who is an achiever, others might want to latch on to opportunities to get you to do things for them. I know someone who faced this situation in the workplace. She was really an “overachiever,” so she attracted a lot of “underachievers” as pretend friends. By latching onto the energy and skills of the overachiever, the underachievers were able to build up their own cred, as well as their portfolios of accomplishments, without really having to do the work themselves. What did they do? They latched onto what the overachiever was doing by convincing her to let them be part of her “team,” and they got part of the credit and eased, ever so smoothly, into her light.
I’ve known people who will pretend to be your friend in order to bask in the sunshine of a leader. People who work to get themselves into positions of leadership often find they attract “hangers on” who pretend to be their friends. Instead of actually being there for the leader, however, pretend friends are only there for the fame and glory that often comes with the leadership spotlight. Then, when rough times come around, pretend friends usually disappear. And what’s even worse, if the leader becomes challenged for some reason or other, or if problems occur in the organization that call for the leader being put up to public scrutiny, pretend friends usually will scatter, not unlike cockroaches when a light is turned on. Either they will be nowhere to be found, or they won’t stand in support of the leader they pretended to support in order to stand in his or her light.
Foul Friendship Stinks ...
A most “foul” reason for pretend/fake friendship is when someone does it to get close to another person, in order to destroy that person. I hate that it’s true, but I know it is true, because I’ve seen it happen, in and out of the workplace. Sometimes, pretend friendship of this type will have its origins in jealousy, envy, or just plain old spite—someone pretending to be a friend so they can get close enough to someone else to wreak havoc or destroy them, personally or professionally.
Remember the saying “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer?” Well, you can bet enemies know this saying too, and they will sometimes work as hard as is needed to squirm their way into a “friendship” position, in order to cause harm. Remember, most are expected to be smart enough to keep known or professed enemies away, so that means the best way for a “secret enemy” to get close is by pretending to be your friend. When the end goal is destroy someone, then the best way to learn about someone—their desires, goals, and objectives, is to get close. Then, they can put road blocks in your way to achieving your goals, without you even knowing or suspecting anything at all.
By getting close to you, pretend friends can find out things about you that you would never tell anyone but someone you think of as a friend. Then, once the pretend friend gains all the information they need, they can work against you—and even get ten steps ahead of you in doing so. Remember, you’re considering this person to be your friend, so they’re comfortable knowing they’re among the last persons you would ever suspect of doing any to harm you, or doing something that might allow someone else to harm you.

Why someone pretend to be your friends?
Why we need friends?
How to get rid of bad friends?

聖誕老人真的存在嗎?
Does Santa Claus exist?
Santa claus exist
I know santa claus exist because many friends ha seen his shadow and one day my friend told there parents were asleep and the lights turned off and on and when they turned on again there was a pile of toys and my friend has a video of his shadow
Even Google says that santa exists!
Google has a santa tracking service - of course he must have adapted to modern day technology, most likely sponsored by Google. (where else did google cars come from?) Google is a trusted company that EVERYONE believes, also many videos and a lot of footage has shown that he exists. Of course it probably is his son or grandson, as no one could live for that long (we're not stupid!). Also as displayed in rise of the guardians, you can only see him if you believe in him! Everyone who voted no is sure to be on the naughty list. We pity you :-) Plus I met him in a shopping centre once. He gave me a sticker, some sweets and a pencil (sponsored by google). He is awesome. You can't deny it. Ho ho ho!
He must exist
Who delivers the presents to us on christmas eve? And it's just nonsense that parents lies to their kids. No they don't. Parents don't lie to kids. And people has also seen santa, and there are many pics on him with kids on the internet. Google it up! He usually aks kids what they want for christmas. Trust me, l have met him myself.
Santa Claus Does NOT exist, I'm sad to say.
I hate to be the Grinch about it, but unfortunately there is no Santa. There is no jolly fat man that rides around giving out presents to all the good little girls and boys. If I'm wrong, impoverished children that do not receive gifts on Christmas must be very naughty delinquents. Or they belong to some other religion and don't deserve Santa's attention... Considering Christmas is supposedly apart of the Christian faith. Reindeer do not fly, elves do not exists (at least, I'm 90% sure they don't), and even if they did exist Santa would probably be considered a dictator... And the elves would be his slaves or something. Which would just spoil the whole holiday.
Reasons Santa Can't Possibly Exsist
How can he get all of the presents to the kids in just ONE night? How does he know if you've been bad or good? How does he watch everybody all the time? How does he make all those toys? How does he pay the elves? How can he eat ALL of those cookies? A few years ago, my grandma told me that she was just pretending to be Santa. Last Christmas, my uncle confessed that he was eating the cookies, and drinking the milk.
Q:
Does Santa Claus exist?
If you meet Santa Claus what you want to say to him?
What do you think about Christmas?
Do you like Christmas shopping?
Do you like snowing weather?
Do you like doing Google searching?
Who are your heroes and why?

Reasons Why Staying Up Late Can Be Toxic for Your Health By Livingly Staff
It Creates Bad Eating Habits
This is an issue for almost everyone who stays up late at night. In fact, "people who go to bed late and sleep late eat more calories in the evening. Yes, that's right. Sadly it's possible for late-night sleepers to eat 248 more calories a day than those who get to bed at a decent hour, and all of that can lead to about two pounds per month. Although co-lead author Kathryn Reid admitted that the study and research couldn't confirm whether or not people choose poor food options at night because they're night owls or simply because those specific, unhealthy options are the only ones available, the correlation between weight gain and the time participants went to sleep was prevalent.
Late Nights Weaken Your Immune System
According to a study in the "Cancer Research" journal from researchers at the University of Chicago and University of Louisville, "Poor-quality sleep marked by frequent awakenings can speed cancer growth, increase tumor aggressiveness and dampen the immune system’s ability to control or eradicate early cancers."
A lack of sleep has often been linked to a poor immune system, so it's no wonder that so many college students, and just night owls in general, get sick so frequently.
Melatonin Production Can Be Affected
In relation to a lack of sleep potentially bringing about various illnesses in your life (cancer being one of the most extreme possibilities), when people don't hit the hay earlier in the night and get less than the recommended hours of sleep, their melatonin levels can go down.
So while it may different for someone with insomnia who simply just can't go to sleep though they're laying in bed in the dark, for a night owl who stays up late gaming, studying or binge-watching TV shows, the light proves to be detrimental. With modern technology, all that glare can actually be hurting your sleep. So if you want to improve your health, try turning off your phone a few hours before you go to sleep and avoid watching any TV beforehand as well.
You Can Be Prone to Negative Thoughts & Anxiety
Jacob Nota and Meredith Coles of Binghamton University published a study in December 2014 noting that, "people who sleep for shorter periods of time and go to bed very late at night are often overwhelmed with more negative thoughts than those who keep more regular sleeping hours."

Gaining and Losing Face in China By Sean Upton-McLaughlin
Gaining Face and Losing FaceMost Westerners who are planning to China for business have almost certainly heard of the concept of “Face,” or Miàn zi (面子). China’s more traditional society indeed places a great deal of importance on Face within society, business, and politics. However it can be difficult for Westerners to understand the specific rules relating to Face in China, as well as the different contexts where it should be used. For example, what actions will cause someone to gain or lose Face? In what situations should Face be given? How can Face affect your business and daily life in China? In the following article, several of the basic points surrounding Face will be explained, which all Westerners need to be familiar with to succeed in China.
What Is Face?
In China and much of Asia, Face represents a person’s reputation and feelings of prestige within multiple spheres, including the workplace, the family, personal friends, and society at large. The concept of Face can be understood more easily by breaking it down into three separate components: the individual view, the community view, and actions. The “individual view” pertains to the amount of prestige individuals feel based on their accomplishments, and the amount of respect they feel they are due based on their position and status, such as in a company or the home. For example, in the modern Chinese economy there are many opportunities to buy status symbols, which help a person gain prestige.
What is Face? The “community view” pertains to the amount of respect individuals feel necessary to give to someone else based upon that person’s position or status, such as in a business, the family unit or within a group or friends. For example, status in a Chinese family is divided by very distinct roles; there are even separate terms used to address older and younger cousins, aunts, and uncles. Giving the same amount of respect to older and younger aunts or uncles might be viewed as a serious breach of etiquette.
Face is very visible in the Chinese business environment and plays an important role in inter- and intra-company communication, business negotiations, and the development and maintenance of relationships. In China, company hierarchy is much more important than in many Western countries. Not only are leaders and managers placed on a higher pedestal, but the distinction between different levels of management is much clearer and more important.
Q:
Why Chinese consider that face, or miàn zi (面子) is important?
Is “face” important to you?
Hoe to keep someone’s face?
What to do if you make some losing face?
What would do if someone make you lose face?
How to build a good reputation?
How to have good manners?
