Even if you have money, spending it on your
date won’t always impress. Creativity and resourcefulness can score more points
than dropping big money on a fancy dinner that didn’t take much thought. If you
are unemployed or thrifty, that’s no reason to stay at home alone. Ask your
date what they like to do and come up with a plan that shows you listened and
you put in effort.
•Take a hike – tour murals, be a tourist
in your own city or try hiking through a safe park or beach at night during the
full moon.
•Sunset and a picnic – at local park,
overlook, beach, or on your roof.
•Cook dinner together – visit your local
farmers market, volunteer with Food Not Bombs or dumpster dive your dinner to
show your that you are resourceful. Make sure you ask about dietary
preferences.
•Date on a bike – ride a bike in Critical
Mass with your sweetie, take part in the festivities and then plan a special
stop that offers more alone time.
•Popcorn and a movie – films are available
gratis at your local library on YouTube, Ice Films and Bit Torrent. Let your
date pick the film and try it outside if the weather is nice. Many movie
theatres will give you their left over popcorn if you ask nicely.
•Bookstore treasure hunt - create a list
of things to find and share from the bookstore ahead of time, like good jokes,
recipes, a book your date might love, a self help book for your date, or a
travel book to inspire adventure together.
•Game night - invite some friends over and
let them get to know your date. Try these DIY indoor games or backyard games,
like create your own miniature golf course.
•Free museum day - explore a different
culture, weird science or art together. Ask your date’s opinion on things you
see.
•Fly a kite – make sure its a windy day so
you can show off your flying skills. Bring a back up plan, like a frisbee, book
or a game in case the wind dies down.

Chinese actress Angelababy endures invasive
examination to prove she hasn't had plastic surgery
Angelababy, whose real name is Yeung Wing,
arrived Thursday at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences with something to
prove: that she had never had plastic surgery.
What ensued was a bizarre and brutally
public physical examination. Angelababy underwent a battery of tests, including
X-rays and even a plastic surgeon poking around the inside of her mouth. All
the while, pictures of the exam were posted on state television and Weibo,
China's wildly-popular Twitter-like microblogging site.
"Angelababy's cosmetic results
announced," ran headlines across the country.
The story behind Angelababy's strange exam
dates back to 2012, when Beijing beauty clinic Ruili claimed that she had
plastic surgery.
"Angelababy's plastic surgery fails,
netizens say her chin is extremely unnatural," ran the headline of an
article posted on the clinic's website, according to Shanghaiist.
The actress denied the report and sued the
clinic for 500,000 yuan, or roughly $108,350, in compensation, according to the
BBC. For three years, the case has gone back and forth in court. This May, a judge
ruled in her favour but the clinic appealed.
Finally, a Beijing judge suggested that the
dispute be settled once and for all by Angelababy having her face examined by
medical professionals "to certify its authenticity," the BBC
reported. And so it was that the 26-year-old actress arrived to a Beijing
plastic surgery clinic on Thursday - not to get work done, but rather to prove
that she had received none.
According to Chinese media, a renowned
plastic surgeon named Qi Zuoliang performed the exam in front of her lawyer,
two notaries public and a host of reporters.
"During his examination, Qi noted that
there no cut marks on her eyelids, around her eyes or around her mouth,"
Shanghaiist reported.
"Angelababy did not wear makeup and
was proactive during the examination," according to another fashion blog,
AsiaOne. "She asked the surgeon to check her forehead, nose, chin,
cheekbones and apple cheeks, and said to reporters who were present: 'Quick, help
me think where else.'"
Qi's verdict: Angelababy was naturally
angelic.
