There's road rage, air rage, and even youth
sports rage. And now, as a triple-digit heat wave sweeps across the Southeast
and Midwest, experts suggest there may also be "heat rage."
A new study published in the Journal of
Personality and Social Psychology found that aggression and violence seem to
peak in hot weather.
James Rotton, PhD, an associate professor
of psychology, and Ellen G. Cohn, PhD, an associate professor of criminal
justice, both at Florida International University in Miami. Overall, more
aggravated assaults occurred at moderately high temperatures than at either
very low or very high temperatures, the new study shows.
Heat rage may peak in the evenings because
people may drink alcohol rather than water to beat the heat, and "alcohol
increases the probability of aggressive behavior," the researchers write.

1. My best memory is when my friend and I went to the beach. The water
was really warm and clear so we swam for hours without coming out. And when the
sun was setting, we watched it as we floated in the waves. It was so beautiful.
2. July 24th was my best memory from this summer vacation. It was a
morning I awoke to the enticing smell of bacon cooking... My husband is a
sweetheart and woke up early to surprise me with my favorite coffee, a
delicious omelet with my favorite ingredients and a lovely white rose. After
eating breakfast, my spontaneous spouse suggested we venture on a day trip to
my favorite beach. I was so happy and the kids shared in my delight. We had a
great day sinking our feet into the hot sand, while cooling down in the
refreshing water. On our way home, we stopped for dinner where we had good food
and bonding. It was the best day of my summer and I will always cherish it.

新北市板橋區3日上午發生街頭連續傷人案，57歲蔡姓男子與44歲郭姓男子，在1小時內，分別於相隔約2公里的民族路222巷口及漢生西路、國光路口，遭同一人以利刃刺傷背部，當場血流如注，所幸送醫後均無生命危險。警方在案發後3個半小時逮捕行凶的陳志豪。
警方調查，蔡男昨天上午10時38分，騎車載妻子行經板橋區文化路、民權路口等紅綠燈時，37歲的陳嫌的機車擦撞到2人左腳，蔡妻對陳嫌抱怨「你怎麼這樣騎車？」陳嫌當時還向2人道歉並詢問「有沒有怎麼樣？不好意思，煞車有點失靈啦。」 蔡妻說，當時並未與陳嫌發生口角，丈夫載她到民族路222巷去買菜，不料陳嫌竟一路尾隨，等她下車後，朝丈夫背後猛刺一刀即加速逃逸，丈夫發現遭人刺傷後，向路人求救，被送往亞東醫院急救；蔡妻趕至醫院，看見丈夫背部血流如注，嚇得直說：「太可怕了！」
上午11點半，陳嫌騎車返回板橋區民權路260巷住處前，於漢生西路、國光路口停等紅燈時，因機車差點撞上前方郭姓便當店老闆機車車尾，郭回頭看了陳嫌一眼沒說什麼，沒想到陳嫌又持刀朝郭男背後猛刺一刀後逃逸。
郭男被送往新莊區衛福部台北醫院時，打電話給家人說：「我被人刺了一刀，不知道是誰幹的，血一直流，好痛！」蔡、郭2人背部傷口各深約2公分及3公分，所幸均未傷及要害，住院觀察中。
警方調閱沿路監視器畫面，鎖定作案機車車號後找到車主，發現陳嫌昨天一早持他人證件向車主購買機車，但機車尚未過戶，立即趕往陳嫌住處埋伏。陳嫌下午約3點下樓時，被埋伏員警當場逮捕，並起出行凶用摺疊刀。
陳嫌辯稱，因長期失業才剛找到工作，昨天頭一天開工卻睡過頭，擔心丟了工作，加上天氣炎熱而心情不佳，以為蔡姓夫妻、郭男對他嗆罵「三字經」，才一時氣憤動手
